What Denae says about her clinical expertise and her ideal clients…
Managing health and wellness in college is difficult. I experienced many complicated life events as a college student, and I understand the difficulty of continuing school while managing personal distress. For many of us, college is an uncertain time and can have a great effect on our emotions, relationships, and overall health. As a counselor for university students, I made it my mission to learn about the complex struggles of college life. I provided regular campus-wide education on managing mental and physical health, reducing stress and depression, and using substances.
My ideal client is one who values progress and collaboration. I believe counseling should be personalized for different people in various settings. A strategy that helps one person may be ineffective for another. There is no formula for counseling, and I form my sessions around clients rather than use a preconceived style.
All major life transitions pressure us to adapt to a new way of life. Whether you are in school, changing your career, grieving a loss, experiencing family or relationship changes, managing a health concern, or experiencing any other major transition, my goal is to help you process and cope with this change at your own pace. Together, we will make an actionable plan to meet your personalized counseling goals."
